PURPOSE

The mission of the Hospital Library Services Program is to support evolving information needs of regional health care professionals by providing health and medical information resources, helping hospital libraries to meet their service goals, and offering continuing education and training opportunities.

 

Annual resources provided through the program:

Funding to support collection development, technology, and services, including:

  • Library books and journal subscriptions

  • Technology for the library

  • Circuit Service

  • Library educational programs

Free and/or discounted access to biomedical resources:
  • New England Journal of Medicine

  • Ovid select ejournals

  • STAT!Ref
Document delivery services support:
  • Funding and maintenance of NIH DOCLINE interlibrary loan accounts (EFTS)

  • Medical Information Services Program (MISP) funding for resource sharing

Regional Communication and Grant funding awareness

HLSP Newsletters

Continuing Education:
  • An online guide to program resources

  • Delivery of two annual professional library-related training events or programs

  • Funding to support onsite and individual training through the National Library of Medicine

Library Consultation and program assessment:
  • Program liaisons meet annually with hospital information professionals and are available for consultation on program and services planning, delivery, and assessment.
