Purpose
1. The Advisory Committee on Information Technology & Services (ACITS) provides a forum for the discussion of ideas, exchange of information, and mutual goal-setting regarding library and information technology and services for all types of libraries in the South Central Regional Library Council region.
2. Members advise the Board of Trustees and staff on matters of information technology and services in the South Central Regional Library Council region. They also recommend new programs, services, and changes to electronic subscriptions or existing programs and services pertaining to technology.
Role

Recommends directions for the regional information technologies program for annual or long range plans.

Develops and recommends annual guidelines and criteria for the RBDB program.

Canvasses the membership to maintain awareness of regional information technology needs.

Works on regional projects where appropriate or make recommendations on how they might be carried out.

Makes recommendations of related grant applications of relevance to information technologies (e.g. LSTA).

Advises and recommends new technology to deliver programs and services.

Establishes task groups as necessary.
Advisory Committee Structure
The Advisory Committee should be representative of the region and all library types. Members act as representatives for the entire region, rather than as agents of their institution. Nominations for new members are solicited from the membership, ACITS, the Board, and the staff.
Terms will normally be three years with the option of continuing to serve. A Chair may be selected by Advisory Committee members.
2024-2025 Activities

Investigate the Empire State Immersive Experience (ESIE); recommend participation for at least 1-2 SCRLC members; possibly encourage involvement with directed grant opportunities.

Recommend grant projects foci, update application form; review related processes and recommend changes as needed.

Identify and review emerging technologies and innovations; investigate components for implementation, either regionally, statewide, or within SCRLC's office. This could include an ET roundtable, SIG, or even a focus group.

Support regional technology conferences and learning experiences, e.g., NYSCATE as a conference, AI as a CE topic (e.g., how to help students understand it), etc.
