Keeping Up with the Collections: Highlighting Women's Suffrage

Keeping Up with the Collections: Highlighting Women's Suffrage10:00AM-11:00AM July 14th, 2021

In 2020 and 2021 Wells College and the Howland Stone Store Museum partnered to digitize materials from the museum related to the woman suffrage movement in Cayuga County. Project members will discuss their work on creating the partnership, choosing materials to digitize, the digitization process, and the new Opendore museum… all while dealing with a pandemic!"

Posters in the collection date from 1905 to 1917 and reflect international aspects of the movement, and the relationship of National, state and local suffrage organizations. Newspapers, publications, conferences on all levels, songs and plays helped regularize the idea of suffrage over the years of continuing effort.
