Cheery Friday Greetings!
A reminder that there are a couple of "Ask" services available to you as a member of SCRLC, or as a member of a member (i.e., the component public and school libraries).
The first is the AskUs 24/7 virtual reference service. Soon, the service will switch from QuestionPoint to Springshare, because OCLC sold its backup reference service to them. For those of you already using LibAnswers, this may be an easy add-on. Click here for more information about the migration.
The advantage of AskUs 24/7 is its 24/7/365 coverage. There is a responsibility to work on the shared desk each week. We hear that pricing will be about the same and we expect to continue cost sharing the service with our members. If you are an individual public library or school library/district, you can join individually if your library system does not participate. Feel free to contact me for more information.

The second "Ask" service is Ask the Lawyer. We've just completed our first year of participation and had 9 wide-ranging questions. Seven were from public libraries, one from a school library system, and one from a cultural organization. The answers to many of the questions posed appear in the service's Recently Asked Questions section. The RAQs are searchable and represent all types of libraries--including colleges and universities elsewhere in the State. It is a great place to scope out answers to various questions and situations that affect our organizations.
By the way, we are in the throes of planning upcoming learning opportunities for autumn and winter. If you have any ideas for learning that you would like to see offered regionally, please contact me! Thank you!
Yours in partnership,
Mary-Carol Lindbloom
Executive Director
