NYLA, SCRLC & You: A conversation about diversity and inclusion in librarianship

Jun 5, 2019, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Location: SCLRC Offices, Clinton Hall- 3rd Floor, 108 N. Cayuga Street, Ithaca NY 14850

Audience: Library staff from all types of libraries and SCRLC member institutions are invited to attend. This meetup will be held in conjunction with the SCRLC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee.

Description: Join New York Library Association President Michelle Young (Director of Libraries and Associate Professor at Clarkson University) and NYLA Executive Director, Jeremy Johannesen at SCRLC for a conversation on improving diversity and inclusion in librarianship. As a presidential initiative, Michelle has partnered with the Empire State Library Network to host a series of gatherings across the state to bring together librarians and library workers from across all types of institutions to share innovative ideas, explore and identify collaborative opportunities, and to further the discussion of improving diversity and inclusion in librarianship.

We'd love to learn what you are doing about diversity and inclusion, what you'd love to work on, and hear your suggestions for SCRLC and/or NYLA to help address these needs. Do you have something you would like to share in a short presentation (10 min. or less)?

Just fill out this form. Or if you cannot access Google Forms, contact mclindbloom@scrlc.org.

Here are some potential topics to consider (these can be things you are working on or just needs that you have identified):
