NYLA, SCRLC & You: A conversation about diversity and inclusion in librarianship

Audience: Library staff from all types of libraries and SCRLC member institutions are invited to attend. This meetup will be held in conjunction with the SCRLC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee.

 

Description: Join New York Library Association President Michelle Young (Director of Libraries and Associate Professor at Clarkson University) and NYLA Executive Director, Jeremy Johannesen at SCRLC for a conversation on improving diversity and inclusion in librarianship. As a presidential initiative, Michelle has partnered with the Empire State Library Network to host a series of gatherings across the state to bring together librarians and library workers from across all types of institutions to share innovative ideas, explore and identify collaborative opportunities, and to further the discussion of improving diversity and inclusion in librarianship.

DEI Initiatives at the Rakow Research Library and the Corning Museum of Glass

Presenter: Beth Hylen

An overview of DEI initiatives at the Rakow and CMOG and an overview of the museum's equity audit.

 

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Cornell University Library

Presenter: Camille Andrews

This talk will cover recent and upcoming DEI efforts at Cornell University Library.

 

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Tompkins County Public Library

Presenter: Jennifer Schlossberg, Sara O'Shea and Teresa Vadakin

An update on recent initiatives at TCPL including going fine free, their Equity Statement, Bystander Training and Access to Justice.

 

Light refreshments will be provided by SCRLC.
