with Jamie Murphy, PhD, RN Nursing faculty SUNY Delhi

Do you sit at your desk for many hours at a time without standing up or walking? Research has shown that people who spend the majority of their day sitting at their desk are at risk for musculoskeletal injury and pain, reduced productivity, and increased mortality. Making minor changes to your desk and chair with proper ergonomics is the first step to reducing your risk for injury. Staying active while you work is another way to prevent injury, whether adding in a walking treadmill, bicycle, or pedals under your desk. Learn more about how to incorporate proper ergonomics to your workstation and some Active-Desking options.

Jamie Murphy has 30 years of nursing experience and is currently teaching in SUNY Delhi's School of Nursing in the online RN-BSN program. In addition to community health and heart failure care, Jamie's interests incorporate the best practices of ergonomics and increasing physical activity into her workday. Jamie holds a doctorate in rural nursing and a masters in nursing education.

You will need an internet-connected computer & computer speakers / headset / phone for audio.
