The Bibliographic and Referral Center (BARC), SCRLC’s interlibrary loan service of last resort, is up and running! Join a training session to find out more about using this service.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will understand the following:

  • How to send a request to BARC.
  • BARC’s User Guide content.
  • BARC Guidelines.
  • How to navigate BARC’s processes and procedures including login to the Clio system, renewing login information when needed, submitting requests to borrow items, how to note when items are received and when items are returned, and printing receipt and return paperwork.
  • Best practices for shipping and delivery of returned items.
  • Fees, billing, what to do about lost items.
  • Medical/health requests.
     

Presenters
Sarah Shank, BARC Consultant for the new, in house BARC System, and Christine Brown, Outreach Services Librarian at SCRLC will lead the training sessions.

Sarah is the Library Access Services Manager at the Ithaca College Library. She has an MLIS from Drexel University and has been working in ILL for over 20 years. 
 
Christine is the Outreach Services Librarian at SCRLC. She manages Resource Sharing at SCRLC and will be the Coordinator for BARC services.
