Talima Aaron, President of the John W. Jones Board of Trustees. In 2004, Talima joined the Board’s finance committee. She was second vice president for 8 years, and elected president in 2016. Talima’s work includes fundraising, branding, programming, speaking, and events planning to support the Museum’s mission and elevate its profile. Financing the museum’s restoration, preservation, and education objectives led her to write grants on the Museum’s behalf totaling over $1.5M.
Under her leadership, the Museum opened its doors in 2016, was awarded a Bench By The Road from the Toni Morrison Society, and Mr. Jones portrait/profile was added to the Americans Who Tell The Truth gallery. Her most recent accomplishment is the commission and 2024 installation of the statue, The Crossing, honoring Mr. Jones’s legacy. Currently, construction is underway to build an addition to increase the Museum’s visitor capacity.
Talima retired from Corning Incorporated after 12 years supporting training programs for Corning’s global scientific community. She graduated from the State University of New York, and completed Cornell University’s School of Industrial Relations’ HR and Training programs. She serves her community as a Commissioner for Elmira’s Woodlawn Cemetery, is a member of the Underground Railroad Consortium of NYS, and several other local organizations.
Originally from New York City, Talima resides in Elmira, and is a wife, mother and proud grandmother who is also obsessed with learning and sharing the good news about Elmira.
