Attendees will learn about mosquito-borne diseases that are transmitted in NYS, travel-associated mosquito-borne diseases, how mosquito-borne disease transmission occurs, and how to protect themselves from getting infected.
Presenter: Jennifer White joined the New York State Department of Health as an epidemiologist in 1999. She has spent the last 17 years working in vector-borne disease surveillance and research. Ms. White currently serves as the Director of the Vector-borne Disease Unit within the Bureau of Communicable Disease Control where she coordinates human and vector surveillance and research activities related to tick- and mosquito-borne diseases. Ms. White’s research interests include exploring novel methods of vector-borne disease surveillance and prevention and developing alternative surveillance methodologies for vector-borne diseases.
