Schedule:

 

10:00am - 11:15am: We've Got The Numbers! Understanding, Finding, and Constructing Tables from Census Data.
This workshop is divided into 3 sections: (1) An introduction that describes the difference between Census (Decennial) data and American Community Survey Statistics--a survey that has deep demographics (2) How to search for data, interpret the different tables, change their set-up, and download or email the data. (3) Exercises will be given to those in the audience so that they may practice creating their own tables.

 

11:15am - 11:30am: Break

 

11:30am - 12:45pm: We've Got The Numbers! Maps: Understanding, Finding, and Constructing Maps using the Census portal.
This workshop, somewhat of a continuation from the first session, is divided into 3 sections: (1) An introduction that describes the difference between Census (Decennial) data and American Community Survey Statistics--a survey that has deep demographics (2) How to search for data, understanding map category breakouts, and using the Census portal to customize your own map. (3) Exercises will be given to those in the audience so that they may practice.

 

*Participants will need to bring their own laptops or tablets.*

He travels around New York state giving workshops and presentations that are Census data-related. He holds a BA from Clark University, and a MSc from Rutgers-Newark University. David resides in Northern NJ with his wife and children.
